Our Tencent Maps scraper extracts places from map.qq.com (腾讯地图, also known as QQ Maps), the map built into WeChat. Search a business type, brand or landmark in English or Chinese, by city, province or all of China, or paste map.qq.com links and place ids. Each place returns its category, every phone number, address with admin codes, rating, spend per person, opening hours, coordinates in WGS-84 and GCJ-02, and its Dianping, Amap, Meituan and Ctrip ids. Place details add photos, menu, visitor tags and reviews. Export to JSON, CSV or API.

Why scrape Tencent Maps?

Google Maps is not where mainland China looks for a shop. People use domestic maps, and Tencent Maps is one of the three big ones, with Amap and Baidu Maps, and the one built into WeChat. For anyone researching Chinese cities from abroad, it is the closest public directory of local businesses. The catch: Chinese-language listings, offset coordinates, and an official API that wants a developer key and a Chinese account.

Scraping it turns the map into a table you can join. Category and admin codes filter rows without reading Chinese, WGS-84 coordinates drop straight onto Google Maps or QGIS, and the Dianping, Amap, Meituan and Ctrip ids link each place to data you already hold. Schedule the place ids you follow and changes in rating, hours or reviews show up as diffs between runs.

What you can extract

Name, category and 6-digit category code
Every phone number listed (landline and mobile)
Address, district, city, province and adcode
Rating, spend per person and popularity score
Opening hours as text and by day
WGS-84 and GCJ-02 coordinates, entrance point
Dianping, Amap, Meituan, Ctrip, Fliggy and eLong ids
Photos, top 10 dishes, visitor tags and reviews

Use cases

China market sizing

Count hotpot restaurants, cafés or hotels per district across cities, with rating and spend per person, before you open, invest or partner.

Local B2B prospecting

Build call lists of restaurants, hotels, clinics or hospitals in a city, with every phone number the map lists and a district on each row.

Cross-platform matching

Join places to your Dianping, Amap, Meituan or Ctrip data on the ids each row carries, instead of matching Chinese names.

Branch and competitor watch

Schedule the place ids of your branches or competitors weekly and diff ratings, hours and the latest reviews between runs.

Frequently asked questions

What is Tencent Maps?

Tencent Maps (腾讯地图, map.qq.com, also known as QQ Maps) is the map service of Tencent, the company behind WeChat and QQ. It is one of the three big consumer maps of mainland China, with Amap and Baidu Maps, and the map built into WeChat, so its listings are what people see when they share a location or look for a shop inside WeChat.

Do I need a Tencent account, an API key or to read Chinese?

No. The Actor reads the public map with no login or key, and search terms and cities can be typed in English, such as hotpot in Shanghai or hotel in Sichuan. Names, addresses and reviews come back in Chinese as the map shows them, next to category codes, admin codes, numbers and coordinates that need no translation.

How many places can one search return?

Tencent Maps lists up to about 800 places for one term in one city, and the max places setting caps each search below that. A province, or an empty city field for all of China, is searched city by city, busiest first, so it can go past 800. Add related terms to widen a sweep: a place found twice is saved once.

How much does it cost?

Pay-per-result: about $0.0035 per place, no subscription. Start free with Apify credit.
